Description

Casanova was an adventurer, poet, alchemist, diplomat, philosopher and much more.
So was this wine, versatile and charming.
Since the time of Julius Caesar, Gutturnio has been esteemed.
It takes its name from Gutturnium, a silver cup in which wine was poured and then passed from hand to hand as a sign of friendship.
Barbera and Croatina, or rather conviviality and character, are the Casanova concepts that make our meals special.

Appellation of origin: Gutturnio D.O.C. Superiore
Type: Demisec Red Wine
Varietal: Barbera 55% and Croatina 45%

Tasting notes:
  • Colour: Red - Ruby red
  • Aroma: Intense and vinous. Along with perfumed aromas of red fruits such as cherry marasca cherry, currant and raspberry. It also gently sends us towards floral hints of dried violets.
  • Taste: Good tannic structure and strong freshness move you into balance. Mineral notes and fruity sensations accompany a long savoury finish.
Pairing:
  • The good structure of this wine calls for important pairings such as roasted and boiled meat dishes.
  • Local tradition sees a perfect pairing with roast roast of Cupa Piacentina.
  • The perfect travelling companions for this wine are Italian cured meats and soaked cheeses.
  • Try it with mushroom or truffle dishes, you won't regret it.
In 1938, grandfather Otello Ceci ran one of the most famous trattorie in the lower Po wine area, just outside Parma.
Here, savouring the typical dishes of the Parmesan tradition, the Messinesi tasted the famous Lambrusco that Otello produced from the best grapes of the local producers.
His sons, Bruno and Giovanni, were the first to realise that this Lambrusco deserved a great success: in the 1960s, the tavern was transformed into a wine cellar.
Today, his grandchildren Alessandro, Maria Teresa, Maria Paola, Elisa and Chiara run a family-run company in his spirit, but exporting wine all over the world, helping to define a new standard for Lambrusco's recognition.
The price shown does not include the 50 bani fee to guarantee the return of the packaging.
